Worship Service Scriptures

Responsive Reading - Based on Psalm 32:1-2, 7-8, & 10-11

It is a great blessing when people are forgiven for the wrongs they have done,

When their sins are erased.

It is a great blessing when the LORD says they are not guilty,

When they don't try to hide their sins.

You are a hiding place for me.

You protect me from my troubles.

You surround me and protect me,

So I sing about the way you saved me.

The Lord says, "I will teach you and guide you in the way you should live.

I will watch over you and be your guide.

Many pains will come to the wicked,

But the LORD'S faithful love will surround those who trust in him.

Good people, rejoice and be very happy in the LORD.

All you who want to do right, rejoice!

Old Testament Scripture - Joshua 5:9-11 (Easy to Read Version)

Then the LORD said to Joshua, "You were slaves in Egypt, and this made you ashamed. But today I have taken away that shame." So Joshua named that place Gilgal. And that place is still named Gilgal today. The Israelites celebrated Passover while they were camped at Gilgal on the plains of Jericho. This was on the evening of the 14th day of the month. The day after Passover, the people ate food that grew in that land. They ate bread made without yeast and roasted grain.

New Testament Scripture - 2 Corinthians 5:17-20 (Easy to Read Version)

When anyone is in Christ, it is a whole new world. The old things are gone; suddenly, everything is new! All this is from God. Through Christ, God made peace between himself and us. And God gave us the work of bringing people into peace with him.

I mean that God was in Christ, making peace between the world and himself. In Christ, God did not hold people guilty for their sins. And he gave us this message of peace to tell people. So we have been sent to speak for Christ. It is like God is calling to people through us. We speak for Christ when we beg you to be at peace with God.
